YLDA Celebrates Fifth Founding Anniversary in Cambodia 2008-02-28
This November, YLDA is coming home to the place where it all began.
Nostalgia shall be the buzzword as the Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia
(YLDA) prepares for its Fifth Year Anniversary this coming October 29 -
November 2, 2008 Celebration in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Together with its partners, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Fur Die Freiheit
(FNF) and the Sam Rainsy Youth Movement (SRYM), YLDA will be hosting young liberals
from different parts of the world for a four-day seminar workshop commemorating
the creation of YLDA five years ago in the historic city of Siem Reap. Read more...
Filipino Young Liberals Elect First Woman President 2008-09-16
Following their trailblazing tradition of creating spaces for Filipino youths
to take a more active role in politics, members of the Kabataang Liberal ng
Pilipinas (KALIPI) once again proved their path breaking feats by electing for
the first time a woman president.
Elected to the position is Congresswoman Mitch Cajayon of the 2nd District
of Caloocan City and also the youngest member of the Liberal Party contingent
in Philippine Congress.
"I consider it a privilege to be a member of KALIPI, which I see as a
proud and historic organization. Hence, to be asked to lead KALIPI is an honor
I fully embrace," Rep. Cajayon said after her oath taking as the new President

YLDA Opens Search for Young Freedom Writers 2008-08-22
The time has come for young Asian liberals to establish their own liberal identity.
And YLDA is going to lead the way.
The Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia is spearheading the search for a
common Asian liberal identity with the launching of its latest book project:
Freedom Writers: Young Asian's Call for Freedom.
The book is funded by grants from the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy and
the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. The book project was supposed to have been
launched in May this year but has had to wait for the confirmation of the funding
grant from YLDA partners. In sending their messages to the YLDA Secretariat,
the YLDA Executive Committee expressed excitement and elation with the final
