IFLRY lauds Strategic Planning

The International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) congratulated YLDA and the host Kabataang Liberal ng Pilipinas (KALIPI) for the outcome of the Strategic Planning Workshop held in Manila on August 18-21, 2004.

Mr. Emil Kirjas, IFLRY President, said through email, ?I am happy and proud to see YLDA growing fast in the last couple of years, and from a ?student? turning into ?example-serving? regional platform of the young liberals and democrats?.

?We remain committed to support YLDA in the future and we are looking forward to the increased Asian influence in the global liberal youth movement.? he added.

The IFLRY is the international umbrella organization of liberal and radical youth organizations and has always been aimed to work with different youth liberal organizations towards developing and promoting liberal perspectives.

Garda Bangsa Garda Bangsa was formed in 1998 following the successful political reform spearheaded by students and other campus activists to depose the tyrannical regime of President Suharto. The organization was founded by Abdurram Wahid, a former adviser of President Suharto who resigned following an escalation in government corruption and political management by the administration. He championed "Responsible Openness" within the government system and proposed the establishment of a Reform Committee in order to mitigate poor governance within the administration. His calls were left unheeded and so he eventually withdrew support for the government and joined the efforts advocating for reform in the government. Read more...
