How should one begin organizing a political or advocacy campaign? What are
the youths doing so that their voice may be heard? What is the state of youth
movement in Asia? These and a few other more questions shall be answered in
the upcoming publication of the Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia on Political
Campaigns.
Indeed, the secrets will be revealed soon. What is behind the art and science
of campaigning will soon be known to young Asian leaders.
The book, temporarily visualized as a manual for Political Campaigning, represents
the varying thoughts and experiences of young Asian leaders across the region.
It discusses, enumerates, and proposes vital tools, techniques, and media employed
for successful campaigns as well as present successful case studies on electoral
promotions and advocacy movement all within the backdrop of Asian politico affairs.
Twelve chapter authors from six countries were screened for this project aimed
at contributing to the knowledge-stock of Asian youths on youth mobilization
and organization. Tentative release date of book is early April 2008.

Garda Bangsa was formed in 1998 following the successful political reform spearheaded
by students and other campus activists to depose the tyrannical regime of President
Suharto. The organization was founded by Abdurram Wahid, a former adviser of President
Suharto who resigned following an escalation in government corruption and political
management by the administration. He championed "Responsible Openness"
within the government system and proposed the establishment of a Reform Committee
in order to mitigate poor governance within the administration. His calls were
left unheeded and so he eventually withdrew support for the government and joined
the efforts advocating for reform in the government. Read more...
