2008-07-09

Home is not only where the heart is but also where the actions will be. Very soon, an international delegation from the Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia will come to the Philippines to participate in the meeting and conference organized by its international partner, the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) from July 24 to 28, 2008.

The YLDA Secretariat in Manila has received confirmation of the participation of the YLDA Executive Committee members headed by its president, Rajendra Mulmi of Nepal. Through the intercession of YLDA Secretary General and IFLRY Vice President Jan Argy Tolentino, YLDA has been accredited to participate as a partner organization during the event in Manila and Subic, Philippines.

Hosted by YLDA member organization Kabataang Liberal ng Pilipinas (KALIPI), the IFLRY hopes to attract close to sixty delegates from IFLRY member organizations around the world. Meetings, discussions, debates, and networking activities shall keep the delegates busy for four days. At the end of the conference, an action plan and stronger partnership between IFLRY and partner organizations like YLDA is expected.

After the IFLRY event, the YLDA Executive Committee shall hold its Strategic Planning session to evaluate previous programs and plan future actions for 2008-2013. YLDA is also scheduled to meet with its partners Friedrich Naumann Foundation - Manila and the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats to discuss possible joint-programs in the coming years.

Aside from Messrs. Mulmi and Tolentino, other YLDA Executive Committee members who will join the meeting are Miss Camelia Puji Astuti of Indonesia, Mr. Chee Wey Hng of Malaysia, and Mr. Buddhika Pathirana of Sri Lanka.
